Gear
Custom gear is the heart of Teldaria's combat. Every weapon and armor piece belongs to one of twelve tiers, and your journey from Regular scraps to Mythic endgame runs through one loop: fight mobs for drops, crush what you don't need into essence, craft essence into Cloudy Bottles, and combine bottles to climb the ladder. Compare any two tiers in game with /tiers.
The Twelve Tiers
Essence exists in one flavour per gear tier, and it only ever crafts within its own tier — you cannot mix two tiers in one recipe. The ladder runs:
| # | Tier |
|---|---|
| 1 | Regular |
| 2 | Plain |
| 3 | Sturdy |
| 4 | Forgotten |
| 5 | Ghostly |
| 6 | Tormented |
| 7 | Hellish |
| 8 | Fatal |
| 9 | Legendary |
| 10 | Heavenly |
| 11 | Transcendent |
| 12 | Mythic |
Each tier's item is named after its tier — Tormented Essence, Fatal Essence, Mythic Essence and so on.
Getting Gear
Custom mobs drop custom gear — the deeper the dimension, the higher the tier of what falls. Early on, drops alone will out-pace what you own; from around Hellish–Fatal, drops stop being upgrades and crafting becomes the main road forward. Cloudy Bottles are the other source: right-click one for a random piece of tiered gear of the bottle's tier. Finished bottles also come from rank-ups and missions.
Crushing
The Crusher grinds unwanted custom gear down into dust of that item's own tier — the tiered essence you feed back into the Crafter to build bottles and climb the tier ladder. NPCs at /warp workshop open the crushing and crafting menus, and both can be opened from anywhere with a command: /crusher and /crafter, after being unlocked through /ranks or donator ranks.
| What you crush | Dust returned |
|---|---|
| Gear above 25% durability | 1–3, plus a 20% chance of one extra (so 1–4) |
| Gear above 25% durability, with the Max Crush talent | 3 or 4 |
| Gear at or below 25% durability | 1 |
| A crafted item | Cannot be crushed |
An item protected with /tprotect |
Cannot be crushed |
Beaten-up gear is worth far less at the Crusher, so it pays to retire a piece before it is nearly broken rather than after. Max Crush is a Level talent and guarantees the top half of the roll on any healthy item. Anything you leave sitting in the Crusher is handed back when you close it, and /tprotect toggles a lock on the item in your hand that stops it being dropped or crushed by accident.
Crafting: Essence Into Bottles
The Crafter does two jobs. It trades essence plus a plain Glass Bottle for a Cloudy Bottle of that tier, and it combines 4 bottles of one tier into 1 bottle of the next tier up. The essence cost is not a flat 8 for everything — the three lowest tiers are much cheaper:
| Bottle tier | Essence needed | Plus | Or combine |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | 4 Regular essence | 1 Glass Bottle | — |
| Plain | 4 Plain essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Regular Bottles |
| Sturdy | 4 Sturdy essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Plain Bottles |
| Forgotten | 6 Forgotten essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Sturdy Bottles |
| Ghostly | 6 Ghostly essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Forgotten Bottles |
| Tormented | 6 Tormented essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Ghostly Bottles |
| Hellish | 8 Hellish essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Tormented Bottles |
| Fatal | 8 Fatal essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Hellish Bottles |
| Legendary | 8 Legendary essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Fatal Bottles |
| Heavenly | 8 Heavenly essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Legendary Bottles |
| Transcendent | 8 Transcendent essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Heavenly Bottles |
| Mythic | 8 Mythic essence | 1 Glass Bottle | 4 Transcendent Bottles |
Because the combine step is always 4-to-1, a bottle you already own is worth four of the tier below it. Crushing low-tier junk into Regular and Plain essence is cheap busywork; the real cost is at Hellish and above, where every bottle is 8 essence and every step up the ladder is another four bottles.
Other Ways To Get Essence
Crushing is the main tap, but not the only one:
- Missions pay essence directly. Nether missions hand out Hellish and Fatal essence, End missions Fatal and Legendary, Corrupt Forest missions the top end — Legendary, Heavenly and Transcendent — and Frozen Echoes missions Transcendent. Overworld, Mayan and Forged missions pay money and other rewards, but no essence.
- Rankups skip essence entirely and give finished bottles. Scavenger gives 4 Tormented Bottles, Trader gives 3 Hellish, Scout gives 2 Fatal, Legend gives 1 Legendary Bottle and Divine gives a Mythic Bottle — see Ranks.
Protecting Your Gear
/tprotect toggles a lock on the item in your hand — a protected item cannot be dropped on death or fed to the Crusher by accident. Use it on anything you'd cry about.
Making Gear Stronger
A finished piece is a platform, not an endpoint:
- Fill its sockets with Common Gems, Rare Gems and Runes — Magic Dust raises the apply chance, Abyss Dust clears a socket.
- Upgrade stones from the Mission Shops push gear further within its tier.
- Repairs:
/trepairfixes the gear in your hand for a fee that scales with its tier.
